Vintage Kerosene Road Safety Lantern
This is an original vintage road safety lantern in good condition with the usual rust typical for it’s age. The kerosene burner is still inside the lantern.
On the top is engraved with the words: KENYONS PATENT SERILIGHT LENS LAMP
The door has the following engraved: ACC SOLE SELLING AGENTS ARTHUR M HOLMES LTD WELLINGTON
These lamps were historically used for roadwork, railway signaling, or to mark obstructions.
The red lens indicates a warning or stop signal, commonly used in railway or road safety contexts
Originally, these lanterns were often fueled by kerosene and featured a wick, although the kerosene tray and wick might be absent in older, unrestored models.
They are now considered antique or vintage items and are often sought after for decorative purposes to add character to interiors or outdoor spaces.
