Greer Taylor Carnival Coat
A stunning one of a kind, only piece designed and made by renowned artist, sculpture and installation exhibitioner Greer Taylor of Australia. She won the Supreme Designer Award at the Nelson International Wearable Art Awards in 1991.
This coat was designed and made in August 1989, at her studio in Mangrove Mountain on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
The materials:
- the charcoal base fabric is 100% brushed wool backed with cotton fleece (to stabilise the surface)
- the applique – fringing, cord, ribbon and fabric – are hand dyed by the artist
- the buttons are grey shell and the beads are metal
- the lining was hand painted
- the size is woman’s 10/12 – it cinches in at the waist (if buttoned up better fit for a NZ size 8)
Greer’s coats and hats are also found currently in museums in Australia.
